I acknowledge that I live, learn and work on Shet’lh-shet’lhuts (Bush Point). A permanent year-round settlement on Tscha-kole-chy (Whidbey Island) until colonial settlers displaced these First Peoples (Point Elliot Treaty 1855). I respect this place, its plant and animal beings, and its long arc of human history. I honor the speakers of Lushootseed ~past, present, future~ whose relationships with and care for these lands and waterways live on to this day, and whose descendants are the Swinomish and Tulalip Tribes. I celebrate the wisdom of those who have called this place home since time immemorial and the ongoing vitality of First Nations. I share this as a step on the journey to live in repaired relation with Native Communities and All Creatures, near and far.
